Meet the instructor

John Asante

John Asante is a Ghanaian American, award-winning audio producer, showrunner, and consultant, and runs JKB Wash & Dry Productions. He’s devoted to crafting compelling stories that amplify the voices of Black and brown folks, as well as folks from other marginalized communities. During the course of his 15+ year career in the audio world, John has worked on over 30 podcasts for several companies, including HBO, Netflix, Spotify, Audible, and Imagine Entertainment. 

Before branching out on his own, John worked at various outlets including Pineapple Street Studios, Stitcher, WNYC, and NPR. He’s a member of the Association of Independents In Radio, The Institute for Independent Journalists, and The Podcast Academy, and teaches aspiring podcasters through Radio Boot Camp and the USC Storymakers Fellowship. John is a graduate of Georgia State University, and resides in Los Angeles with his hilarious wife and two rambunctious cats, E.T. and Emerson.
