Amid stagnant freelance rates and more competition for assignments, independent journalists increasingly are turning to Substack, Medium, MOXY and other self-publishing platforms as a way to monetize their reporting. This panel of experienced journalists and technology experts will share how to publish your own channel, create a schedule and editorial calendar, and understand the differences among platforms.
Panelists will talk specifics when it comes to how much money you can generate and how to build your income strategically, whether you're a writer, photojournalist, audio journalist, multimedia journalist, or other creator. Participants will leave more confident about diving into a new platform, beginning to create content, and assessing the potential value for their freelance businesses.

Who is this webinar for?

  • Aimed at working journalists on a beat with a defined audience or who already have a following, such as recently laid off local reporters.
