Frances is the right mentor if you’re looking to improve your skills on the business side of podcasting. Drowning in business jargon like KPIs and SOWs? Trying to figure out how to tell a client their line edits aren’t working? Looking for feedback on your pitch deck? Frances has expertise in working with brands (large and small) to craft compelling branded podcasts. She is also passionate about the creative side, with a love for teaching storytelling techniques. A gifted audio maker, Frances can cover everything from how to identify and pitch your first audio story all the way to putting together assemblies in your DAW. She’s especially excited about working with entry-level or aspiring producers from communities that have thus far been underrepresented in radio, audio, and podcasting. Frances is also passionate about empowering producers to know their worth and can consult on setting rates

About Frances

Frances Harlow (she/her) is a podcasting consultant, producer, and educator with nearly ten years of experience in audio storytelling. Her career has spanned from producing a live daily radio show at one of NPR’s biggest member stations, to recording and editing bestsellers as an audiobook engineer, to developing original podcasts with Fortune 500 companies. After she joined the Emmy Award-winning team at Planet Money in 2015, Frances went on to become one of the founding producers of Gimlet Media's in-house content studio, Gimlet Creative (now known as Gimlet Projects). Frances eventually left Gimlet in 2018 to start her own podcast production company and consultancy, Harlow & Co. where her client roster includes IBM, Ogilvy, Spotify, TED, American Public Media, and more. She has also led sessions at Third Coast International Audio Festival and Podcast Day 24, and taught workshops at the Pen World Voices Festival and CUNY Journalism School.
