Audio Flux is a new home for independent audio. We invite people to produce short (three-minute) works inspired by specific prompts. In partnership with NYC-based pet portrait artist Ben Lenovitz, the theme of our third Circuit is “Pet Sounds.”
Anyone/everyone is invited to submit a fluxwork by May 15. Up to eight submissions will be chosen to be featured at audioflux.org, on the upcoming Audio Flux podcast, and at a world premiere festival event this summer in NYC. Learn more about the Circuit parameters, submission guidelines and bring your questions to this AMA with AF co-founders Julie Shapiro and John DeLore.

Meet the PRESENTER
Julie Shapiro
Julie Shapiro is a career listener and audio executive, leader, collaborator, and enthusiast. She is the co-founder of Audio Flux, and is currently developing new shows with Canadaland. She was Vice President of Editorial, PRX, and Executive Producer of PRX's Radiotopia, where she co-founded and executive produced the Ear Hustle podcast, Over the Road, and Radiotopia Presents, among other award winning shows.
From 2014–2015, Julie helped establish the Australian Broadcasting Corporation's Creative Audio Unit. In 2000, she co-founded the Third Coast International Audio Festival, where as artistic director she shaped the Festival's creative trajectory and nurtured a robust international listening culture. Shapiro has taught radio to university students, presented at conferences and festivals the world over, and produced stories for the airwaves and podcasts in the US and beyond.

Meet the PRESENTER
John Delore
John DeLore is an audio enthusiast, renowned radio/podcast sound designer, producer, and editor, with a career that spans from his time at WNYC/New York Public Radio (where he worked on Studio360, On The Media, Death Sex & Money, and many more), to the start-up days of Gimlet (where he worked on Mystery Show, StartUp, and ReplyAll), to Stitcher (where he launched The Paris Review Podcast, Chris Gethard's Beautiful Stories from Anonymous People, The Atlas Obscura Podcast, and produced the award winning docu-series Unfinished: Short Creek). These days John runs his independent production shop Starlight Diner (where he's worked on Constellation Prize: Nightwalking, the award-winning series Weight for It, and the 4th season of the now independent Paris Review), and along with Julie Shapiro is the co-founder of Audio Flux, a new home for independent audio. John has presented at various audio conferences (Third Coast, Hearsay, AES, IMI Fest, OnAir, Resonate, Tribeca Audio) and in his spare time records music in his garage-turned-studio.
