How can we fit big ideas into small packages?
Time constraints play a powerful role in creative audio work. They can function as a creative prompt, a blueprint for a larger piece, a moment in time, or an invitation to experiment with new techniques.
In this 4-week course, co-taught by audio makers and collaborators Talia Augustidis and Jules Bradley, we will explore the art of short form audio through creative exercises, careful listening, discussions, and play.
Students will leave the class with several 3-minute pieces for their portfolios and new skills to integrate into their creative audio practice.
This class will be playful, collaborative and experimental. Students will re-imagine what 3- minutes of audio could be by exploring structure, form, time, sound and story.
Students walk away with...
1. 3 short pieces to add to their portfolio
2. New sound design skills
3. Understanding of creative approaches to structure, pacing, and story
4. Creative community within their cohort
4. Creative community within their cohort
Who is this class for?
The course is for both experienced producers wanting to challenge themselves and create new work, as well as newer folks looking to jumpstart their audio practice. We will not be teaching audio editing; students without editing experience will be provided with resources to learn on their own time. It will be DAW agnostic, however the instructors will teach using REAPER.
