Sam Greenspan: Private Session (60 mins)
60 minute mentorship session via Zoom
Sam is available Thursdays and Fridays beginning mid October
Sam is a great mentor for makers of ambitious radio. With 10+ years of experience freelancing, pitching stories, field reporting, sound design and creating new shows, Sam loves working with other creators looking to break new ground or take their radio game to the next level. They are particularly excited to work with fellow queer and trans producers, as well as new producers who have had other life experiences before coming to radio.
Sam Greenspam (they/them) is the creator and host of BELLWETHER, a new podcast of speculative journalism. Sam got their start in radio at WSLR, a 100-Watt community station in Sarasota, Florida, and is currently based in Los Angeles. A pioneer in the audio world, Sam was a founding member of numerous radio shows and podcasts including 99% Invisible (Sirius XM), TED Radio Hour (NPR), The City (USA Today), among others. An advocate for experimental sound and narrative, Sam was a core organizer of the 2015 Megapolis Audio Festival. As an educator, Sam has taught radio at Stanford University, New College of Florida, UnionDocs, The Art + Media House, and elsewhere. A frequently sought-after voice in the field, Sam has been an invited presenter at Third Coast, HearSay Festival, NYU-Shanghai, Carnegie Mellon University, UC-Berkeley School of Journalism, and elsewhere. Sam also has a secret covid podcast called TALKGROUP, about civic life during lockdown.

Roifield was fun to talk with and asked really engaging questions to make me think about critically about the story I was telling. Every conversation was fruitful and I believe I've grown a lot in the past two months. This mentorship helped change my career and perspective about audio.
